Construction Grade Puncture Sealant 25 Litre
Construction grade water-based puncture sealant that will seal up to 16mm holes (e.g. metal reinforcing bar), in all sizes of construction tyres. Simply installed via the valve, the sealant remains as a pool in the tread area as the tyre revolves. Once the tyre is punctured, the sealant is forced out of the hole under pressure causing inherent fibres to instantly come out of suspension & plug the hole. This means you can have a large amount of punctures without stopping to repair them. This means NO DOWNTIME & NO LOST TIME!
How does it work?
Our puncture sealant is a blend of fibres & gums held in suspension. It also contains anti-freeze, bactericide, fungicide & rust inhibitors. When a hole occurs in the tyre, under pressure the sealant rushes to go through the hole & at that stage because of factors such as narrow aperture, weight & air pressure, a chemical reaction takes place & the fibres come out of suspension & form a plug in the hole.
Behind the visible plug the sealant stays moist, which means that the plug never dries out & falls from the hole. It may be knocked from the hole by a sudden bump or vibration, but during the next turn of the wheel it will seal again. Therefore sealant acts as a permanent treatment, not a temporary repair. Sealant works in the tread area of the tyre only.
Does it have any harmful effects on tyres or wheels?
Sealant is a water based product & can be washed or rinsed from tyres & tubes should a traditional repair be required - because of a large gash or tear. sealant does no harm to tyres or tubes - even to the steel ply parts, due to the rust inhibitor ingredient. Likewise it actually helps to keep the wheel rims more rust free than normal.
Our sealant will seal holes caused by objects with diameters up to more than 16mm on large, heavy vehicle tyres. The performance is governed by factors such as weight, air pressure & simply volume of air in a tyre. It is not recommended for cars travelling on good roads at speeds in excess of 60mph because on small wheels at these speeds it is impossible to balance the wheels contacting sealant in this way. Any competitive type product. Which claims to balance wheels as well as seal holes, is making extravagant claims which will cause problems in use.
How is it applied?
Sealant is generally supplied in 25 litre drums & installed using a high pressure pump, which will apply the sealant against the pressure (up to approx. 80psi.), after removing the valve core & quickly attaching the clip end of the pump.
Sealant has a very high viscosity & is thixotropic, which makes it very convenient to use - no splashing, or messy puddles spreading over the work area. Sealant has no harmful effects, unless several litres are swallowed. Sealant is environmentally friendly - it contains no ozone destructive gas propellants & the liquid base is bio.degradable.
