Overview:
This HSS Split Die is a round, adjustable threading die for cutting or restoring external threads on bolts, studs, and threaded rod. Made from high-speed steel, it offers good wear resistance and edge retention for consistent, clean threads on common workshop materials such as mild steel, aluminium, and brass when used with suitable cutting fluid. The die has a 1 inch outer diameter (25.4 mm) and cuts a 1/2 inch x 13 TPI UNC thread (12.7 mm diameter, ~1.95 mm pitch). The split design allows minor adjustment of thread fit using the screws in a compatible die stock. Suitable for hand die stocks with a 1 inch (25 mm) capacity or for use in tailstock die holders on lathes for accurate, guided threading.
