Description

Overview:
These 3.2 mm Low Hydrogen Welding Electrodes are basic-coated steel core consumables designed for joining high tensile and low alloy mild steels. Each rod is 350 mm long and supplied in a practical 5 kg pack for workshop or site use. Optimised for manual metal arc (MMA) welding, they run on both AC and DC machines and produce a stable arc with low spatter and smooth bead appearance. The alkaline, low-hydrogen flux helps reduce diffusible hydrogen in the weld pool, lowering the risk of cold cracking and improving toughness, especially in restrained joints and thicker sections. Suitable for all welding positions, including vertically down, they offer dependable results for fabrication, structural steelwork, and repair tasks across construction, manufacturing, and agricultural maintenance. Keep dry to maintain low hydrogen performance.

Key Features:
- 3.2 mm diameter electrodes, 350 mm length, supplied in a 5 kg pack
- Low-hydrogen basic flux to minimise weld cracking and improve impact toughness
- Runs on both AC and DC MMA equipment for flexible use on site or in the workshop
- All positional capability, including vertical down welding
- Stable arc with easy strike and re-strike for efficient progress
- Low spatter and easy slag removal for clean, tidy weld beads
- Suited to high tensile and low alloy mild steels in fabrication and repair
- Good penetration and sound mechanical properties for reliable joints
- Consistent results across fillet and butt welds on medium to heavy sections
- Store dry to preserve low-hydrogen performance

Typical Applications:
Structural steelwork such as beams, columns, and frames; plant, agricultural and construction equipment repairs; general fabrication of brackets, gussets, and supports; trailers and chassis work; on-site erection and maintenance where high tensile strength and crack resistance are required. Suitable for root passes and cap runs on low alloy mild steels, in both workshop and field conditions.

Also known as:
Shielded metal arc (SMAW) electrodes, basic-coated electrodes, low-hydrogen rods, arc electrodes, manual arc rods.
