Supporting Our Local Community: L&S Engineers and Walsall FC
Supporting Our Local Community
Over the past year, L&S Engineers has been proud to support a number of organisations across our local area. From sporting clubs and charities to community-led council initiatives, we understand how important local support can be in helping people, teams and organisations continue doing valuable work.
Giving something back to the community has always mattered to us. Many local clubs and organisations rely on support to keep moving forward, whether that means helping young people get involved in sport, supporting local causes, or creating opportunities for people to achieve their goals.
In 2025, we launched our first major local awareness campaign, with billboard advertising across the area and a strong presence at our chosen football club, Walsall FC. For us, this was about more than advertising. It was an opportunity to promote our brand locally while also supporting a club that means a great deal to many people in our area.
As part of the campaign, we focused heavily on STIHL branding with the message: “Your first stop for genuine STIHL spares.” STIHL is one of our top-selling brands at L&S Engineers, so it made perfect sense to highlight our position as a genuine STIHL spares dealer. The campaign helped us reach local customers who may not have known about our STIHL range, while also acting as a reminder to those who have used us in the past.
Our support for Walsall FC also has a personal connection. We have several Walsall fans here at L&S Engineers, and their passion for the club goes far beyond the workplace.
One of our own, Steve “Tomo” Thompson, was recognised as one of Walsall FC’s Fans of the Season, receiving the most nominations that year from people across the community. Steve attended his first ever Walsall game in 1970 and has followed the club ever since.
In fact, the first game he missed last season was due to a knee operation, marking the first away game he had missed in 22 years. During the 2024/2025 season, Steve was also asked to take part in a heart-warming club video, which he voiced over, sharing his generational connection to Walsall FC and how his father passed on his love of the game. For Steve, like many supporters, Walsall FC is about far more than football. It is about family, loyalty, memories and a lifelong connection to the community.
Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue supporting our local team once again. As a business approaching 60 years of trading, this gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase L&S Engineers to thousands of supporters and visitors at the club, while continuing to give something back to the community around us.
