Which bucket is suitable for my mini excavator?

Measuring the bucket (bucket sizes)

If you need a replacement bucket for your mini excavator but are unsure which one you require, you can determine the correct one through three measurements on your existing bucket. You will need to calculate the bucket pick up dimensions through the pin diameter, dipper gap and the pin centres.

Measuring the Pin diameter

Remove the pins out of your bucket and measure the width of the pin.

Measuring the Dipper Gap

The dipper gap is the internal diameter between the bucket hangers - this is the section where the main arm of the digger fits in along with the bucket link. Ensure you measure the smallest internal size, which is usually located between the bosses of the bucket.

Measuring the Pin Centres

The pin centres are measured by the distance between each of the two buckets pins from centre to centre.

Selecting the correct bucket size

The bucket size you require is dependent on the size of your mini excavator. Some bucket sizes only apply to grading buckets, in this case you should not use other variations of buckets with those dimensions.

Use this chart to choose which size of bucket is compatible for the weight of your mini excavator:

Mini Excavator Ton Suitable Bucket Width Suitable Grading Bucket Width
Up to 0.75 Ton 6 - 24 Inches 30 Inches
1 - 1.9 Ton 6 - 24 Inches 36 - 39 Inches

4 Ton 12-36 Inches 60 Inches
